A review panel of judges at the Basic Court of Mitrovica has confirmed the ruling of the pre-trial judge for Oliver Ivanovic’s transfer to Mitrovica Detention Centre.

The Review Panel has indicated that the decision is to be executed immediately, and plans are underway for the transfer.

In the initial ruling of the pre-trial judge, it was assessed that there was no security risk for Oliver Ivanovic in being detained in Prishtina Detention Centre.

In the Appeal process, the Review Panel found that there were no legal reasons to prevent Oliver Ivanovic from being transferred to the Detention Centre in Mitrovica.

Detention on remand extended for Oliver Ivanovic

27 February 2014

Today, the pre-trial judge of the Mitrovica Basic Court granted the application of the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK) and ordered two-month extension of detention on remand for Oliver Ivanovic.

The pre-trial judge found that the risk of flight and the risk that the defendant might influence witnesses if released continued to exist and that there are no less severe measures that could be imposed at this time.

Detention on remand was initially ordered by the Mitrovica Basic Court following Ivanovic’s arrest on 27 January 2014. He is suspected of War Crimes and Aggravated Murder.
