President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has reacted to the incident in Romania, where a Russian drone struck a populated area and injured civilians on European Union territory.

In a message posted on X, von der Leyen said Russia had crossed another dangerous threshold with its actions.

“Russia’s war of aggression has crossed another line. A Russian drone strike hit a densely populated area in Romania, injuring civilians. On EU territory. We stand in full solidarity with Romania and its people,” she wrote, NOA.al reports.

The European Commission President stressed that the European Union will continue strengthening its security and deterrence capabilities, particularly along its eastern border.

She also warned that Brussels is preparing additional measures to increase pressure on Moscow.

“As we continue to strengthen our security and deterrence, especially on our eastern border, we will continue to increase pressure on Russia. We are preparing a 21st package of sanctions,” von der Leyen stated, NOA.al informs.

Her remarks came after a Russian drone crashed into a residential apartment building in the Romanian city of Galați, causing a fire and injuring civilians, an incident that has drawn strong reactions from both NATO and European institutions.
