In a special ceremony, the University of Tirana has awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the President of Çalık Holding, Mr. Ahmet Çalık.

The Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Dhori Kule has handed out the Doctor Honoris Causa Degree to Mr. Çalık, in recognition of his special contribution and unmatched tenacity in the development of the Albanian economy, as well as the ongoing evaluation and support of universities in Albania.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Academic Senate of the University of Tirana, Albanian and foreign academics, the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Lindita Nikolla, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Albania, Mr. Hidayet Bayraktar, the CEO of ALBtelecom and Eagle Mobile, Dr. Erkan Tabak, the CEO of BKT, Dr. Seyhan Pencapligil, journalists and business people.

During his speech at the Doctor Honoris Causa ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ervin Demo said: "The award of this honorary title by the University of Tirana to Mr. Ahmet Çalık is a good opportunity to highlight the energies and genius of Mr. Çalık in business development and expansion, thus contributing not only to the progress of his home country (the Republic of Turkey) but also of other countries where his companies’ investments are present".

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dr. Sulo Hadëri, appreciating the contribution of Mr. Çalık’s investments over the years, as well as his companies’ corporate social responsibility, said that it is an honor and pleasure that Mr. Ahmet Çalık joins the list of personalities who have received the honorary title Doctor Honoris Causa, for special and significant contributions in the field of business in Albania and beyond.

Mr. Çalık, in turn, expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for the appreciation made by the University of Tirana and said: "I feel honored and proud to be given this title. In all the investments we have made and continue to make, we as Çalık Holding are guided by the principle of bringing benefits to the society, by creating values in all the countries we operate. In this regard, our company is undertaking various projects of social responsibility.

Thanks to his merit in business development and the valuable social contribution, Mr. Ahmet Çalık has been awarded many medals and honorary titles by various institutions and countries in the world, from Italy to Japan. /a.c/noa.al/
