Prime Minister Sali Berisha was guest of the 9-grade “Arif Selimi” school pupils and teachers– in Vukatanë, Shkodër at the inauguration event of this newest institution of learning, an investment of 33 million lekë financed by the state budget.

Attending the school are actually 165 pupils and 13 teachers. The school is named after patriot Arif Selimi, a popular figure in Vukatanë and all over Shkodra shot dead by the communist regime because of his convictions in 1945 together with patriots Prek Cali and Dom Ndre Zadeja. Arif Selimi was decorated in 1995 with medal “Martyr of Democracy”.

In the course of 8 years in Shkodra district are built 29 new school building and 93 other schools have been reconstructed at an investment of more than 1.5 billion lekë.

“Education is the most serious issue of society and the nation and in the course of years we have made the utmost to reconstruct the educational system in general, to consolidate it as the main promoter of the country development”, said PM Berisha to the participants while promising that during the next 4 years it will be worked in all educational levels to increase quality, consolidate curricula and further qualify the teachers.
