The number one company of telecommunications in Albania, ALBtelecom has implemented a sophisticated alarm system against damages to network, a system which will assist in promet detection of cases of cable cuts. This system immediately signals the center for the network detachment and at the same time notifies the Security Forces.. This system will help to prevent and catch robbers.

The ALBtelecom Company and State Police have maximally increased their attention to prevent theft and damage to the company’s network and infrastructure. ALBtelecom and responsible authorities have launched nationwide controls for finding sales destinations of these materials.

After the criminal acts to ALBtelecom’s infrastructure the company has launched collaboration with the State Police in order to capture and punish the perpetrators, and prevent this phenomenon that penalizes end-users of internet and telephony, causing also financial damage to services offered to citizens by ALBtelecom.

Over the past year there were 574 cases of theft and damage, affecting the service of more than 27 thousand subscribers. From these impairments were counted every month thousands of Euros in losses, mainly from manholes thefts. Only during January from ALBtelecom’s infrastructure in the capital were stolen materials worth 43.804 Euros. Individuals and criminal groups have continued for more than 2 years to rob materials such as batteries and cable conductors of fixed telephony and the internet.

State police and judicial authorities are highly committed to take action to apprehend and punish the evildoers according to the law.  Law enforcement authorities have managed to catch some kriminal groups operating in the capital.

Theft figures have been high in the past two years. Only during 2011 the damage caused turns out to be 500 thousand Euros, while in 2012, 400 thousand Euro.  Besides Tirana, damaged areas are also Elbasan, Berat, Durres, Gjirokastra, Fier, Korca, etc..

Criminal proceedings have already been launched for members of the criminal groups resulting in fines in the same values the damages ​ caused and imprisonment.

ALBtelecom calls on citizens to cooperate with the company and law enforcement bodies to prezent these impairments and to denounce them. ALBtelecom urges buyers of these stolen materials to distance themselves from criminals and persons and not to become a party of law violation and open theft.

ALBtelecom calls on all competitor operators in the market, to condemn such actions and cooperate to create a better and safe climate of assets, giving support to free competition to the benefit of citizens.
